We are proud to present Teaching Green: E-Practicum on Environmental Sustainability, an inspiring collection of workshops centered around environmental protection and sustainability. This publication is a part of the project Education as the Passport to the Future, implemented by the English Language Teachers’ Association of Montenegro ELTAM and supported by the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica.
It is the product of the participation of English language teachers Milka Cerović, elementary school “Mileva Lajovic Lalatovic” Niksic and Ivana Dašić, vice-principal in elementary school “Oktoih” Podgorica in the prestigious Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) 2024 Exchange Program in the United States in March 2024, funded by the Department of State and focused on the theme of Environmental Conservation and Sustainability.
The E-Practicum consists of ten detailed workshop plans addressing key topics of Sustainable Development, a mandatory interdisciplinary theme in the annual curriculum of English language teachers. Designed to support educators in integrating vital topics such as Environmental Protection, Climate Change, the Green Economy, Sustainable Cities and Settlements, and Biodiversity into their English lessons and extracurricular activities, this resource aims to inspire a global shift towards sustainability.
With an international perspective, the publication not only reflects the work of Dašić and Cerović, but also features five additional workshops contributed by distinguished colleagues Arely Luna, Mexico, Denisa Pearson, Slovakia, Yelena Moisseyeva, Kazakhstan, Paulina Rojas Ceciliano, Costa Rica, Jorge Humberto Borges Pina and Violeta Azenet Cauich Chi, Mexico, who were also part of the TESOL Exchange Program.
The activities in this E-practicum are crafted to be straightforward yet interactive, providing an engaging experience for all participants. We aim to inspire teachers to refresh their existing approaches and embrace new, creative ideas.
