Family

Access students had Community Liaison Officer Ms. Amy McClellan from the U.S. Embassy Podgorica with her daughter, as well as Ms. Jelena Vojnić from the Public Affairs Office as their guests on May 20, 2020. The purpose of the activity was to discuss about families and to find similarities and differences between American and Montenegrin families. The guests introduced the students to American families, their values, and beliefs, but also talked about their own family, its role and values. Using Padlet, chat box as well as live discussion students have learned a lot about the way they spend their time, family relationships, their middle names, values and beliefs. This was an excellent way for the students to share the things about their own families as well. They agreed that the roles, values and beliefs of families in both countries are very similar and they expressed satisfaction because of it. Besides learning about American families, this lesson was one more opportunity to develop their language skills by talking to native Americans.
