Native Americans and their legacy in the U.S.

Native Americans – seems like a topic never researched enough, always inspiring and challenging for those who would like to get into deeper aspects of its culture, tradition, legacy, their treatment in the past and today, their value. With the guest Mr. Kenneth More from Office of Building Operations at the U.S. Embassy Podgorica, students had a great opportunity to see their life from different aspects and reach the world we had never been before. The discussion was started by students’ ideas of what they had already known about Native Americans and was further developed in breakout rooms. Apart from the issues relating to their values and importance, they were also introduced with their powwow festival, the way they were attached to the nature and their totems. Access students also did a research comparing tribes in Montenegro to Native American tribes and our guest made an effort to provide some more information such as lands and dwellings once occupied by them as well as ancient petroglyphs with their carved images. The discussion ended up with an interesting story about a prominent leader Geronimo and one of the most famous Native American women – Pocahontas.
