Visit to the local Red Cross Organization

During the first day of intensive sessions Access students visited the local Red Cross organization in order to identify their goals and activities and practice providing first aid to injured people.

Mr. Minić, secretary of the Red Cross Pljevlja, greeted students and told them more about activities which include provision of humanitarian assistance to people in need, organization of preventive and educational workshops on different topics, such as First aid, anti-trafficking, Restoring Family Links, HIV/AIDS, organization of health preventive workshops for Roma women and girls and informing parents and children of Roma population about the school enrollment procedures and many more.

Students also found out how they can become donors and Red Cross volunteers as well as learned how to provide first aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).  Students practiced how to bandage and immobilize fractures, stop bleeding, bandage bleeding cuts and burns, provide first aid to a person who is choking, provide first aid for someone who is having a diabetic emergency and provide first aid for seizures.
