Mr. Kevin Mc Caughey, Regional English Language Officer from Belgrade discussed with students the topic – “Poetry”. Throughout various activities, students tried to recognize and synthesize the meaning of poetry and multiple perspectives on why it is important.
At the very beginning, our guest engaged students in creating a poem inspired by a famous American poet Nikki Giovanni. They came up with some great ideas and thus breathed new energy into the poem. Working in breakout rooms, students were introduced to some of the most prominent American poets of the 19th and 20th century, such as Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Ezra Pound and Robert Frost. Our guest was more than surprised by the level of maturity and understanding students showed while discussing poems.
The session was brilliantly wrapped up by reading poems students themselves created using various online tools and patterns.
